Phil Waymouth is the founder of Frontier Impact, an advisory firm dedicated to helping businesses take strategic advantage of AI. He focuses on helping teams cut through the noise and understand where AI technology can solve their own unique challenges.

Previously, Phil spent almost two decades at Microsoft, most recently serving in the Office of the CTO as a Technical Advisor on AI. He held a front-row seat to the industry’s biggest shift, leading the negotiations for Microsoft’s multibillion-dollar collaboration with OpenAI and helping manage the ongoing partnership. He also helped establish and drive Microsoft’s AI Supercomputer program and co-founded Microsoft’s “AI for Science” initiative.

Phil has worked in both the UK and the US, and his professional experience spans software engineering, strategic partnerships and new business development. He started his career as a graphics engineer making video games, before leading international business development teams and driving cross company programs to align Microsoft’s technology strategy with product team goals. Outside of big tech, Phil worked at a London-based mobile software startup and co-founded a UK-based charity supporting student-led education in Africa.

Phil holds a degree in Natural Sciences (Mathematics, Computer Science) from Durham University, where he was a Fujitsu Microelectronics Ltd. Scholar., and an MBA from London Business School, where he was a Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation – Yoshitoki Chino Memorial Scholar.
