  1. Make your requirements less dumb. Everyone’s wrong some of the time.
  2. Delete. Delete the part or process; if you’re not adding things back in later, you’re not deleting enough.
  3. Simplify. Simplify or optimize is step 3. Too often engineers optimize something that shouldn’t exist.
  4. Accelerate. Accelerate cycle time. You’re moving too slowly, go faster. But only once you’ve done the first 3 steps.
  5. Automate.
